After two years learning to let go of all the black in my wardrobe to live as a House of Colour Spring, I still struggled to feel like myself. Dressing felt too loud or childish to me. Maybe that's why you're here too. You, like me, want to look your best (after 40) and express yourself through style but feel like you're squinting your way through. If that's you, you're in good company.
I started The Reluctant Spring as a fun way to challenge myself to stay the course -- not to go back to what was comfortable, but forge a new path that still felt put-together and polished. Whether you're a fellow Spring, a warm-season readhead, or just a future friend you've found a kindred spirit to journey along with. Follow along with me as I rebuild my wardrobe with timeless pieces that are undeniably spring.

SPRINGS TO FOLLOW
Can't you just see it in my face?!
This knowledge started a journey to move away from colors (like black or burgandy) that didn't love me as much as I did them, to the colors in the Spring palette instead. I quickly discovered finding Spring items wasn't as easy, or as available in my favorite stores as I hoped it would be. So I followed as many Springs as I could find (there aren't that many of us) and have slowly changed my style.
I was gifted color analysis by one of my besties (Love you, Sarah) and although I hoped to be an Autumn, I turned up a Spring (!!) Still warm, yes, but oh so bright! Aside from the cream and the dove gray, there wasn't a neutral in the bunch.
Color Analysis is the idea that every person has specific colors that enhance their natural coloring, often falling within a system whether it be a 4 season system like House of Colour or a 12 season system (like TCI). When I was "draped" those colors are my WOW colors making me a paintbox or golden spring.

I married my favorite person a little over 5 years ago who stretches me way past my comfort zone bringing adventures like rock climbing, travel and boating into what would otherwise be a pretty girly life.
